Marilyn Hendrickson of Southold died on June 11, 2025, at San Simeon by the Sound of Greenport. She was 89 years old.
She was born in the Arverne neighborhood of Queens and graduated from Far Rockaway High School. Marilyn was a proud homemaker and dedicated her life to raising her family in Far Rockaway. She actively participated in her children’s school activities, heading the elementary and high school PTA during their school years. In 1991, she and her husband settled in Peconic, Long Island, where she enjoyed the peace, views, fresh vegetables, and seafood of the area. Her family said she was a voracious reader who enjoyed classic movies, music from the 1940s, and wholesome television shows. She will be remembered for her kind soul, forgiving nature, and ability to always see the best in everyone.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bob, in 2011. She is survived by her sons Robert (Becky) and Erik (Sue); daughters Karen (Tony) and Lauren (Bobby); daughter-in-law, Laura; grandchildren Chris, Erin, Ross, Maegan, Matthew, Brian, Andy, Adam, Brianna, Kristin, Nicholas, and Brandon; as well as six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Marilyn will be interred alongside her husband during a private family ceremony at Calverton National Cemetery. Donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research would be appreciated. DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold is serving the family.
