Entering the final weekend of what is one of the wettest months of May on record, Riverhead Raceway had been able to skirt the wet stuff, until now. Friday morning track management announced with a highly unfavorable forecast projected, they were moving the Saturday evening NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series program to Sunday afternoon June 1. The Local Sports League Team Night that was scheduled for Sunday will move to Sunday afternoon as well.
When Connie Partridge and Tom Gatz revealed their 2025 schedule of events, they listed four monthly Sunday rain dates, June 1, July 13, Aug. 10 and Sept. 14th. It’s mere coincidence that the first rain date is being utilized the day after a rain out. Management wants to emphasize rain dates are to be used for events lost prior to the listed monthly Sunday make-up. If more than one show is affected by weather prior to a monthly rain date, it is to the discretion of management as to which program utilizes the rain date. A fifth rain date is in play for Saturday Oct. 18, to be used only in the event the Championship Night program is lost to weather Sept. 27.
Sunday afternoon the NASCAR Modifieds go to post for a 50-lap event joined by the Super Pro Trucks who will contest a 30-lap feature. The Street Stocks, as well the Mini Stocks will battle it out for 20-laps, with the Eddie Partridge Vintage All Stars debuting for 2025 with a 15-lap race. A 40-lap 8-Cylinder Enduro will complete the oval racing, with the season’s first Demolition Derby bringing the show to a smashing conclusion.
Spectator gates will open at 12 noon for the matinee, qualifying heat races go green at 1:15 pm, opening ceremonies are planned for 2:00 pm Sunday. Adults are $30, kids 6-12 (not in youth league attire), $20, 5 & under free.
